Gallimaufry

What did Gallimaufry inspire?

noun; meaning "any absurd medley,
a hash of various kinds of meat”

A gallimaufry of sounds played
Weaved once and gone
Across string and chord
A medley of cacophonies
All absurd, wrong
Never right but what was
When I was young

But I’m still young
Though faded past
I remember the tune
Hovering under footfalls
Kept and spun and matched
Echoing abandoned rooms
Cover up and arch against
Hardwood floors
With hard earned scars
Never strung the same

It was a swirl of a skirt
On the dip of an arm
Of a man in a stolen suit
Being told it didn’t work
But neither do you
But that was before
When I was young
But I’m still young
Let me play you a song
